Director of Motor Coach Maintenance

Orlando, FL

Salary DOE: $90-120k

Motor Coach/bus Experience Required.

The Director of Motor Coach Maintenance, reporting to the Vice President of Maintenance and Communications, is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, coordination, and management of the company's motor coach fleet and facilities. This role requires an experienced and driven leader eager to become part of a fast-paced, dynamic team.

  • Typical Duties/Responsibilities:**
  • Ensure the maintenance and condition of the company’s equipment, vehicles, and facilities meet top industry standards.
  • Understand local, state, and federal regulations and their impact on the company; develop knowledge of these regulations if new to the area.
  • Recognize the role of the Maintenance Department in achieving company objectives.
  • Provide leadership through mentoring, coaching, and supervising departmental staff, demonstrating excellent team management skills for facility growth.
  • Hire, train, counsel, and discipline staff in compliance with company and governmental rules and regulations.
  • Ensure proactive compliance with preventative maintenance, repair, and cleaning programs for the company’s equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
  • Meet departmental operating expense guidelines and objectives.
  • Interact with governmental agencies and company clients.
  • Assist in preparing and updating the company’s Fleet Replacement Program.
  • Lead in establishing priorities and strategic plans to promote the company’s short and long-term objectives.
  • Enforce all company rules and policies as provided by the leadership team.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.
  • Expectations of the Director, Motor Coach Maintenance:**
  • Possess knowledge and experience in motor coach fleet management, vehicle and equipment maintenance for diesel buses, and the ability to grow in understanding of various bus engine types.
  • Maximize employee productivity while maintaining positive morale.
  • Foster a positive working relationship between the maintenance team and motor coach operators.
  • Develop and maintain reports and information for informed decision-making.
  • Meet with the company’s executive team to present data and field knowledge as needed.
  • Understand and successfully manage a minimum essential inventory system.
  • Respect the different roles within the company and between the company, vendors, and federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Show respect for peers within the organization.

  • Demonstrate leadership and administrative abilities, including planning, initiating, directing, and executing short and long-term programs.


COMPENSATION: Compensation is based on experience and is appropriate for the area and position. Benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, health care and Company 401k program.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess technical expertise and experience in the areas of safety, quality, procurement, management, maintenance and replacement of diesel equipment (Motorcoaches and Transit Buses) a must, with an understanding of Diesel engine technology and theory. Knowledge of Battery Electric Bus technology, a plus.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess a strong commitment to safety and quality in fleet maintenance operations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in automotive engineering or related field.
  • Experience: Background in Motor Coach fleet maintenance management. 5 years motor coach maintenance and transportation management or equivalent experience. Knowledge of diesel mechanical and electrical systems. Experience with fleet maintenance programs. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
