Salary Range: $179,056 - $206,910 annually, commensurate with experience.

Position: Director, New Initiatives

Position Overview:

The Director of New Initiatives will play a key leadership role in Heluna Health and report to the CEO. The role will oversee the coordination and implementation of high-priority, transformative projects from concept to maturity, building new revenue-generating strategic service lines. Initial focus areas include developing training and consulting capacities, as well as community support services billable through insurance. The Director will lead at both strategic and tactical levels, requiring proven experience in launching similar revenue-generating service lines in community health, social support, training, or advisory sectors.

Responsibilities:

Business Development & Strategic Oversight:

  • Lead new mission-driven service lines and revenue models, including billable social needs, training, and consulting.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to set goals aligned with Heluna Health’s Long-Term Portrait.
  • Establish team structures to implement service lines and track performance to ensure goals are met.
  • Provide strategic planning and collaborate extensively with senior leadership.
  • Act as an advisor to the CEO and senior team.

Project Management:

  • Keep service-line objectives on track, ensuring timely goal achievement.
  • Manage market pricing and billing for services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer service issues as needed.
  • Report on service line performance to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Oversee production of reports, financial updates, and other required updates.

Team Building:

  • Manage and grow a team starting with 2-3 direct reports.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and professionalism.
  • Guide the New Initiatives team, setting annual goals and evaluating progress.

Collaborative Engagement:

  • Represent New Initiatives on the senior team and internal working groups.
  • Participate in Board meetings as requested.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, social sciences, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of successful management experience, including managing professional and administrative staff.
  • Proven success in creating and launching new, revenue-generating service lines in relevant fields.
  • Experience in planning, operations, analysis, and reporting within large, complex organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree (MBA, MBA/MPH, MD/MBA, or related combinations).
  • Experience in new business development in health or social services.
  • Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Medicaid/CalAIM implementation and populations of focus, including birth equity, chronic health conditions, mental health, and justice-involved individuals.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid/Medi-Cal billing and compliance.
