Job Title: Sr. Operations Leader

About the team:

  • NOC operations team: automated and facilities change for the NOC.
    • We figure out ways to make the NOC more efficient. We must be extremely efficient, using one-touch tools.
    • WebEx-building automation for tools.
    • Work in, around, or knowledge of the NOC environment.
    • We get problems, and we provide solutions.
  • Tools - evaluate tools for the NOC team; monitoring and alerting; evaluate new tools; someone who can evaluate operation tools.
    • What operational tools are you evaluating?
      • Proof of concepts- big panda- monitoring tools, install and hand off.
      • Upfront work, write the code, and work with the vendor to get it launched.
      • Administrate the tool once launched (monitoring, KPI and Metrics reporting, looking at new tools and user measurement for our leadership
  • Supporting multiple customers; Cisco teams working together across multiple accounts.

MUST HAVES/NICE TO HAVES:

  • Change/Operational Management—ensuring new systems or pods follow alert onboarding processes; running operational readiness testing for new services—the team does the testing, monitoring, and running properly, and they launch for the customer.

  • NOC Environment “hands-on experience”
  • Strong Communication- speaking and documentation “They do a lot of documentation for root cause analysis for their customers.”
  • Leadership- leading a team in India and the US
    • New candidate will need to understand how to bring in new talent to the team.
  • Solution-based thinking- solution-oriented when speaking with the customer or leadership; ability to provide feedback.
    • API—Look at API and metric reporting. “We are looking into new tools for API and Metric reporting to make things more efficient and streamline the process.” The Candidate does not need to have API experience.
  • A degree is not required; equivalent experience is- 8+ years’ experience.
  • Ansible, Python- automation (preferred but not required), and Jenkins. “It would make the role easier for the candidate but not required”- nice to have!
  • Scrum/Agile experience- must have. 3 week sprints!
