We are seeking an EHS Specialist. The ideal candidate will support the implementation and management of environmental health and safety programs. This role will focus on fostering a culture of safety through continuous improvement, compliance, and proactive risk management.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in professional EHS positions.
  • Experience with RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) inspections, Storm Water permitting, Title V Air Permits, especially in Large Quantity Generator settings, is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and their implementation is beneficial.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA safety standards (including PPE, Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, Machine Guarding) and other regulatory frameworks such as ANSI, NEC, and NFPA.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to spending time on the shop floor engaging directly with supervisors and employees.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical processes, with mechanical aptitude and project management skills considered a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, with a keen attention to detail for identifying safety trends and making recommendations.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Project, to support EHS initiatives and reporting.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead the administration and daily oversight of environmental health and safety (EHS) programs, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety by engaging employees and encouraging safe work practices across the site.
  • Perform regular EHS audits and safety inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Assist in environmental and safety communication, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to management and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental standards.
  • Provide ongoing support for the administration and maintenance of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) systems.
  • Investigate safety and environmental incidents promptly, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Advocate for the adoption of safer equipment, materials, and work practices within the facility.
  • Participate in the design and execution of employee health and wellness programs aimed at improving overall workplace safety.
  • Assist in managing the contractor safety program, ensuring all contractors are trained and compliant with site-specific safety requirements.
  • Serve as an active member of the site Safety Council, contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of safety initiatives.
  • Facilitate and lead emergency preparedness drills and training for employees, ensuring readiness in case of emergency situations.

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in environmental health, occupational safety, or a related field, or at least two years of relevant experience in EHS management within an industrial environment.
