Our finishing department is comprised of the artists that turn new ideas into reality. Through the application of paint, polishing, graphics, and assembly they turn custom components made by our team members into high quality visual models that look, feel, and function like real products. Visual models are used for client evaluation, product photography, focus groups, and tradeshows. Sometimes they are the final product used by end customers.
Common tasks include:
- Prepping and painting of plastic and metal parts (3D printed, machined, or cast)
- Polishing of metal and clear coat
- Graphic application and related Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop work
- Assembly and disassembly of existing and new product
- Custom color development
Ideal Team Member:
- Good hand skills, including sanding, prepping, and assembling detailed models
- Budget time effectively with simultaneous projects and deliverables
- Creativity, problem-solving skills, and a visual eye
- Willingness to work occasional overtime, and have a “do what it takes” attitude
- Mechanical aptitude to use various hand tools and shop equipment
- Computer skills: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, working knowledge of 3D CAD software
- Painting, color mixing and detailed sanding experience
- Silicone and/or Polyurethane casting experience
- Background in Industrial Design
- Due to ITAR, all employees must be “US persons” as defined by law
- Candidates must be able to lift 35lbs and potentially stand for long periods of time (spraying parts in paint booth for example)
- Must be able to understand, write, and communicate instructions in English
- A valid Driver’s License
- A High School degree or equivalent
- Ability to wear a half or full-face respirator as required by OSHA
