Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Forensic Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in forensic accounting, investigative skills, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis. In this role, you will be responsible for examining financial records to identify discrepancies, uncover fraudulent activities, and provide expert analysis and testimony for legal proceedings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fraud Detection and Investigation: Conduct comprehensive forensic investigations to detect and analyze fraudulent activities, financial discrepancies, and irregularities.
  • Financial Analysis: Perform detailed financial analysis, including reviewing financial statements, transactions, and records to identify inconsistencies and potential areas of concern.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed forensic accounting reports and presentations that summarize findings, provide recommendations, and support litigation efforts.
  • Expert Testimony: Serve as an expert witness in legal proceedings, including depositions and court trials, to provide testimony related to forensic accounting findings.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with legal teams, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to provide insights and support in criminal and civil investigations.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards throughout the investigative process.
  • Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits by providing forensic accounting expertise and addressing any findings related to fraud or financial irregularities.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and provide guidance to junior forensic accountants and other team members, fostering their professional development and growth.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Public Accountant (CPA)) is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in forensic accounting, auditing, or a related field, with a proven track record of handling complex investigations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify anomalies.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to approach problems methodically and develop effective solutions in high-pressure situations.

Preferred Attributes

  • Certifications: Additional certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) are advantageous.
