DIRECTOR OF PROCUREMENT / PURCHASING

We Search People are looking for a Purchasing & Procurement professional to join our client based in the Louisville, KY area.

They are a very well established, award winning Developer & General Contractor, who are offering a long-term permanent position working within an excellent culture. This role is paying an excellent basic salary in addition to a generous benefits package and bonus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Procurement Management:

• Identify and source construction materials, equipment, and services required for various projects.

• Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, and reliability.

• Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.

• Manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and ensure timely arrival of materials and equipment.

Vendor Relationships:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers.

• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues that may arise.

• Conduct regular reviews of supplier agreements to ensure the best terms and conditions.

Budget and Cost Control:

• Work with project managers to develop and manage project budgets.

• Monitor costs and maintain records to ensure expenditures are within budget.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities, rebates, and implement strategies to reduce expenses.

Inventory Management:

• Oversee inventory levels and ensure optimal stock levels are maintained.

• Coordinate with site managers to forecast material requirements.

• Implement inventory control measures to prevent shortages and excess stock

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position you will possess the following skills, attributes, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • • 5-7 years of proven experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • • Strong knowledge of multifamily construction.
  • • Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and industry standards.
  • • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • • Proficient in procurement software, ProCore, and Microsoft Office Suite
