The Director of Global Field Medical Excellence will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and operational excellence of the Field Medical function. This position will oversee onboarding processes for FM roles, design and implement FM skill training programs, and support the development of effective rosters and territory mappings.

The role demands expertise in field surveys, digital thought leadership strategies, and the development and monitoring of Field Medical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of field medical operations, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the FM team.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Onboarding and Field Medical Skills Training:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive global onboarding programs for new FM team members, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to understand NASH/MASH disease state and resmetirom to optimally engage with field
    • Design, implement, and continually improve training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the FM team. Concepts include, but are not limited to listening skills, question prompts, discussion topics, and best practices for communicating insights back to the organization
    • Collaborate with Training Team, to maintain current list of training and onboarding content to capture evolving information from the resmetirom program
  • Support Roster Development and Territory Mapping:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize FM team rosters and territory maps. Support identification of target thought leaders including globally and within regions of interest (US and EU)
    • Support plans for additional Field Medical headcount (either through FTE or vendor support) to ensure effective coverage to maximize field impact
  • Field Surveys:
    • Oversee and conduct field surveys to gather insights and data from FM engagements
    • Develop a standardized approach to relay information back to the Medical Affairs department
    • Use survey findings to inform strategy and decision-making
  • Identification of Digital Thought Leader and Strategy:
    • Identify and cultivate digital thought leaders within NASH/MASH both globally and within regions of interest
    • Develop and implement strategies to leverage digital tools and platforms to enhance field operations and engagement
  • Develop and Monitor Field Medical KPIs:
    • With Field Medical leader, establish key performance indicators for the FM team, monitor performance against these KPIs and create presentations to present this information clearly
    • Utilize data to drive improvements and report on achievements and areas for development
Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree (doctoral degree in a clinical discipline or MBA) preferred
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of global biopharmaceutical industry experience in medical affairs with demonstrated track record of success
  • Field Medical experienced required
  • Strong knowledge of field medical operations, training and development, and digital tools
  • Proven ability to manage and develop teams, create strategic plans, and execute complex projects
  • Deep experience in the applicable therapeutic area (e.g., NASH, metabolic, diabetes, obesity)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in developing and monitoring KPIs and using data to drive decisions
  • Ability to interact and strategize with key leadership and stakeholders across the business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to various audiences

Compensation:

Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
