ASD is looking for an Instructional Developer / Trainer to support our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Watch Desk Team at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We operate three shifts: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am. The Watch Officers log all incoming calls, faxes, emails, using established logs and the EOC call log system. We have several core tasks, such as triaging calls, providing guidance using the appropriate, approved protocol and recording data gleaned for all incoming calls and data transmissions from the public health community, the public, CDC staff and government agencies from within the US and the worldwide community.

The Instructional Developer / Trainer will support this team by:

  • Assessing the current training program, including a deep dive to document the requirements, identify any gaps, opportunities, and areas for improvement. This work will be done collaboratively (on-site and virtual) with our customers, Watch Desk staff, and leadership.
  • Developing, testing and implementing a new training plan, which includes in-person and virtual training, which ensures our team follows approved call handling protocols and best practices.
  • Documenting and maintaining quality assurance processes which confirm the training has a measurable and positive impact on team performance.

Work will be performed both in-person, at the CDC campus in Atlanta, Georgia as well as virtual, depending on need. Design, development, facilitation skills, and prior experience leading a similar effort are a must.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

  • Consult with government agencies, subject matter experts and instructional designers to learn requirements and build innovative training programs and content
  • Conduct research for relevant learning program content
  • Develop training materials including web-based training, instructor guides, student guides, supplemental training materials such as quick reference guides, and other training content, as needed
  • Plan, develop, manage and evaluate in-person, online and hybrid training programs
  • Support learning technology initiatives, including webinars, online courses, self-paced e-learning and streaming video
  • Prepare regular program content and messaging (course descriptions, learning objectives, outreach emails, etc.)
  • Assist with the preparation of business proposals and contract reporting activities, as needed

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor s degree in instructional technology, e-learning, instructional design or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and supporting online learning and other learning technologies preferred
  • Experience with call centers, operations or customer facing environments, is a plus.
  • Excellent understanding and application of all phases of the ADDIE process.
  • Knowledge and application of adult learning theory.
  • Working knowledge of Section 508 compliance, and conversion of training and supporting documentation into 508 compliant products.
  • Experience facilitating training in-person in a traditional classroom setting or on-line via virtual classrooms
  • Experience developing learning design documents, storyboards, and e-learning prototypes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of major online delivery and content sharing platforms (i.e. ON24, WebEx, Adobe Connect, Blackboard, SharePoint, etc.)
