Job Description :

The System Administrator plans, directs, coordinates and maintains the design, installation, connectivity, and functionality of computer systems, server and storage infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of organizational IT assets. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing server, storage, and backup systems on premise or in the cloud. This role is also responsible for the security for the overall server infrastructure

RESPONSABILITIES

  1. Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure the required levels of servers, storage and operability meets both existing and future requirements.
  2. Develop, implement, and maintain support procedures, and associated training plans for timely support and day-to-day operations by the server infrastructure team.
  3. Practice detailed asset management, including maintenance of server, storage and associated inventory, patching, monitoring, life cycle management and related documentation.
  4. Manage responses to adhere to the established service level agreements with business key partners and end users
  5. Provides ownership of problems thru final resolution
  6. Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization s network and cloud-based infrastructure in all North America sites (USA and Mexico)
  7. Conduct research and make recommendations on servers, storage, backup devices, business continuity, services, protocols, and standards in support of strategic infrastructure procurement and development efforts
  8. Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors for infrastructure products and services
  9. Assess, approve, and administer all equipment, hardware, and software upgrades following the Change Management process
  10. Manage and ensure effectiveness of servers including e-mail, file, print, and backup servers, and their associated operating systems and software. Responsible for on-site, off-site, and cloud-based data centers
  11. Support the operations of all network hardware and equipment as managed by the PKC Networking Team
  12. Support the operations of the PKC Security Team and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, as it relates to PKC
  13. Test and monitor server performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining server infrastructure and associated systems
  14. Coordinate activities with the Infrastructure Team to ensure awareness and fulfillment of assigned duties in support the overall PKC Infrastructure environment
  15. Provide guidance and leadership to junior members of the team as required

Education and Experience:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor s degree in computer science or related field
  • Minimum of five years of relevant direct work and management experience.
  • Prefer previous role in Manufacturing environment with Information Technology experience in Server Infrastructure

Preferred:

  • Prefer previous role in Manufacturing environment with Information Technology experience in Server Infrastructure
  • Prefer experience working in a large, distributed environment of a global nature.
  • Certifications: CCNA, CISSP, MCSA, ITIL
  • Prefer bilingual incumbent, be able to speak, read and write in English and Spanish

Skill/ knowledge requirements:

  • Provides technical expertise and guidance to staff as appropriate.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with ability to communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments with high quality and on-time completion.
  • Bilingual ability (speak, read, and write), English/Spanish to support both Mexico and USA sites
  • Five years experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide infrastructure services to include servers, software services, storage, backup, patching, monitoring, and business continuity.
  • Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.
  • Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards, including Active Directory, Group Policies, Linux security, Cloud security, SAN, Virtualization, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Patching and Monitoring.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as servers, SAN devices, routers, bridges, switches, hubs, network interface cards, and other IT equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles.
  • Experience with VMWare/ESXi, Nutanix, Lenovo servers, Endpoint Management Systems, Enterprise Backup Software.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time, both domestically and internationally. Primarily in North America (Mexico and USA)
  • Must be able to work flexible work schedule and be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, etc. if/when business requires.
