Our team is looking for a data analyst with either experience or interest in social services and more specifically Early Childhood Education. You will join a data and analytics team focused on Head Start Monitoring team, with an opportunity to join other Lewin Group projects in the future. We seek an outstanding critical thinker with experience in data programming (e.g. SAS, R, SQL, STATA) who possesses problem-solving skills and an eye towards continuous process improvement. We seek an individual who is eager to contribute to our firm's growth and who can readily fill an immediate need on our Head Start monitoring contract. The Lewin Group/OptumServe Consulting has provided support to the Office of Head Start for two decades in monitoring the quality of thousands of programs receiving federal funds to provide Head Start and Early Head Start services to children and families across the country.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Data programming, dataset development, and database management
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on qualitative and quantitative data in a clear, succinct manner for diverse stakeholders (e.g., grantees, federal staff, Congress)
  • Writing detailed specifications and documentation of data processing and analytical steps
  • Developing, testing, and implementing performance measurement tools and reliability systems
  • Managing project tasks under tight timeframes
  • Collaborating with partners, federal staff, and clients

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 2+ of years professional experience. Note that years of experience can be inclusive of early career experiences such as college or similar work or volunteer experiences, as appropriate
  • 3+ years of experience using SAS, R, Python SQL, or a similar programming language in a research, consulting, or business environment, including manipulating and modifying data files and applying solid quality assurance practices in reviewing programs and results
  • Experience translating data requests into data programming and analysis plans
  • Solid writing and data presentation skills and experience developing high-quality written products, including comprehensive data reports, data presentations, issue briefs, memos, and data tables/charts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution and 5+ years of professional experience
  • Experience with and knowledge of early childhood education systems, especially Head Start and Early Head Start program management and operations, and Head Start Program Performance Standards
  • Experience with early childhood education quality improvement efforts including Quality Rating and Improvement systems, professional development systems, early learning guidelines, child assessment, State prekindergarten, and other early childhood programs and initiatives, and key federal early childhood law, policy, and regulation
  • Experience with and subject area knowledge of early childhood, elementary, and/or secondary education

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
