Job summary and Responsibilities
Technical Communications for our tool-of-record for cost estimation, capacity planning, timesheet-charging, capitalization-tracking, and financials - all the efforts that support the CTIO organization.
Professional Documentation
- Prepare instruction manuals, how-to guides, and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information in easy-to-interpret guides.
- Research and create communications that explain the use and illustrate the business value achievable.
- Interview subject matter experts to learn and communicate their unique takes on the tool of record.
- Responsible for the creation of documentation for existing and proposed business processes, systems, functional/technical specifications, as well as the facilitation of sessions with Stakeholders.
- Evaluates technical employees and identifies areas needing improvement.
- Assesses internal customer requirements and evaluates and documents workable solutions.
- Ability to document workflow to support development roadmap.
- Prepares functional and technical requirements for new systems and updates to existing systems.
- Develops and maintains user documentation and instructions for all systems for which he or she is responsible.
- Defines processing logic and translates high level business requirements into detailed functional and technical design documents.
- Determines system utilization requirements by researching and testing systems.
- Understands business initiatives to deliver solutions and provides recommendations in support of business objectives.
- Executive Communication/Writing Sample required.
Continuous Training
- Creates technical training programs according to requirements. Artificial Intelligence (AI) knowledge is a plus.
- Train on and distribute instruction manuals, how-to guides, and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information in easy-to-interpret guides.
- Train on and distribute functional and technical requirements for new systems and updates to existing systems.
- Reports data on completed courses, issues, and absences.
- Determines overall effectiveness of programs and training by listening to feedback and making improvements, as necessary.
- Conducts computer training needs assessment by collecting information on employee skillsets.
- Provides training schedules and agendas and determines course content and objectives.
- Researches and collaborates with other teams tasked with identifying current and future business needs.
Primary skills/experience
- Fluent in English written & verbal skills, with background in professional writing/documentation.
- Must be comfortable interacting and facilitating discussions with Stakeholders.
- Strong teaching and mentoring experience.
How are the primary skills/experience applied?
Writing/Verbal and Communication Skills are critical to extracting the information required to achieve the following:
- Creation and training on requirement documents.
- Understanding technical specifications and process/sequence workflows.
- Capturing the needs, goals, and environment of the users of the software and systems.
- Comprehend detail system functionality for the purpose of training.
Secondary skills/experience
- Strong working knowledge of IT. AI knowledge is a plus.
- Has existing knowledge and/or firsthand experience with tool of record.
- Basic tool of record knowledge. ClarityPPM and Jira a plus.
- Advanced technical skills in e-learning and mobile training.
How are the secondary skills/experience applied?
Demonstrated past success should give the candidate working knowledge of the level of detail required in training sessions.
Tertiary skills/experience
- Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Experienced in Technical Communications or the equivalent.
