Head of Training and Development

As the Head of Training and Development, you will be responsible for designing and managing the Training and Development department to drive educational excellence in accordance with Apple Montessori Schools’ strategic plan. With your expertise in training, adult learning, and early childhood education, you will cultivate a strong classroom staff of experts who maximize student outcomes as evidenced by internal and third-party academic assessment tools. As the Head of Training and Development, you will also oversee the training needs of our employees while creating and delivering comprehensive training initiatives that support the growth and development of our organization.

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategic action plan that supports the organization's mission, values, and business objectives
  • Build a high-performing Training and Development department that drives student outcomes with clear measures of success (i/e. assessments, fidelity of implementation reviews, observations) by leveraging data to drive results while identifying needs for intervention
  • Own the development and evolution of course curriculum, including 3rd party resources and all Montessori classroom materials as well as all PPD related to the use of all materials and other teaching strategies and pedagogy.
  • Design and implement behavior management techniques, strategies and training in partnership with a consulting psychologist who will also provide case management
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify, address and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through established KPIs, ensuring continuous improvement based on measurable impact
  • Support the organization’s growth by creating and implementing a training program for new school openings
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the Training and Development team, igniting excitement and passion while driving accountability through performance management
  • Manage all organization accreditations, memberships, and certifications in compliance with Federal, State, and Local rules, regulations, and licensing requirements (ex. Middle States, IACET, )

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required in Early Childhood Education or similar field; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience in training methodology and adult learning theory/application
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team
  • Excellent team building and communication skills, with an ability to influence internal and external relationships to accomplish a common goal
  • Ability to gather and interpret data as means of measuring results and identifying opportunities
  • Multi-site travel required
  • Montessori certified preferred
