Summary

The Director of Enterprise Applications and Architecture is responsible for providing strategic direction for the creation, development, execution, and leadership of Enterprise Business Applications and the Architecture function for the company beginning with creation of an application vision and strategy that aligns with organizational goals and objectives. This role will develop and maintain a roadmap of system & process improvements to progressively deliver higher value, as well as provide governance and council to the and Business Unit leaders. This position must develop effective teams, manage multiple initiatives, build/maintain strong business relationships, and facilitate positive and solution-oriented discussions with key cross functional business stakeholders.

This position will oversee the strategy, implementation, and management of enterprise application systems. This role is critical in ensuring that our applications meet the needs of the business, enhance productivity, and support our overall strategic goals.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive enterprise architecture framework, standards, governance principles, and provides strategic guidance on technology acquisition and lifecycle management.
  • Leads team of architects, developers and IT professionals through guidance, coaching, and support to ensure assignments are completed in accordance with established guidelines, policies, standards, and procedures. Understands the overall organizational vision and translates it into team goals aligned with departmental and organizational goals.
  • Collaborates and provides strategic guidance to key stakeholders, department heads, and senior management on enterprise architecture and technology-related matters including risks, opportunities, potential impacts, and prioritization. Ensures IT Architecture and associated technology solutions are in place to meet business objectives and is able to respond with agility to changing business priorities,
  • Facilitates the creation and informs the enterprise architecture strategy with actionable roadmaps, to include emerging technologies, trends, and various architectural per
  • Set standards and controls for major business application systems regarding acquisition, development, and maintenance.
  • Design or re-engineer recognized “best practices” business systems that properly and efficiently utilize the existing portfolio of applications and IT resources that provide a common business practice for use throughout the organization.
  • Maintain enterprise applications by understanding upkeep/enhancement requirements and designing changes to the existing solution.
  • Drives statement of partnership projects, ensuring they meet customers' needs and are operationally sound - Partner with the PMO team, participate in project request assessments to maintain enterprise-wide applications alignment. Provides estimates (cost, duration) for enterprise application projects.
  • Direct and support an organization that is a combination of internal employees and multiple partnerships with global systems vendors.
  • Oversee the operations of applications which include ensuring reliable, secure operations, troubleshooting, and performing problem resolution to minimize system performance issues and outages.
  • Ensure that application changes are appropriately documented, tested and reviewed and occur in agreed change control windows with appropriate monitoring.
  • Oversees enterprise systems audit compliance by ensuring controls, governance, and processes are in place to monitor and detect potential operational risk. Meets with internal and external auditors to clarify audit processes and findings, and ensures that responses to requests are complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Responsible for application licenses, including leading regular license audits to estimate license overages, and instituting / maintaining rigorous compliance standards and processes for user provisioning.
  • Identify creative ways to reduce costs by streamlining processes and systems.
  • Ensures the security of Matthews International confidential and proprietary information and materials.
  • Establish commercially relevant application KPI to deliver global application service.
  • Travel - 10% throughout the Americas.
  • This role will be based in Lake Mary, FL – remote is not an option.

Knowledge, Skills & Education

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or related field. Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred. 10+ years progressive Enterprise Applications and Architecture with a track record of success. Experience working in industrial manufacturing business models. 8+ years in a leadership role. Ability to perform financial analysis and budgeting for the application portfolio. Transformational experience a plus.

Project Management proficiency: Knowledge in all phases of project management. Must be able to effectively employ contemporary project management tools.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent CRM tool (Salesforce, etc.); knowledge of database software; project management software; graphics; technical diagrams; flow charts, etc.

Language Skills: Strong verbal, written communication skills, ability to present to the C-suite.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments of varying sizes and complexity in an efficient manner. Outstanding analytical, organizational, and problem-solvingskills. Ability to make judgment decisions based on specifications or technical requirements.
