Position Title: Piping Estimator

Type: Full Time / Salaried

Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Estimating and Engineering Manager

Primary Responsibility:

Work as part of an engineering and estimating team to create accurate commercial/industrial mechanical contracting estimates for new construction, retrofits, and remodel projects.

Essential Duties:
  • Analyze project specifications and drawings to prepare accurate cost estimates
  • Utilize Trimble AutoBid software to assist in takeoff of materials for bids
  • Work with subcontractors and suppliers to get pricing for bids
  • Collaborate with project management teams to discuss project plans
  • Visit construction sites to gather necessary information and assess project requirements
  • Review and interpret construction documents to ensure accurate estimates
  • Review vendor and subcontractor quotes for compliance with project documents
  • Review design and offer Value engineering options or offer alternatives for equipment and material based on availability
  • Assist engineers in developing budget estimates based on incomplete drawings and specifications
  • Observe all phases of the work process to determine compliance with specifications, general requirements, safety regulations and precautions.
  • Create isometric drawings for material and labor take off and installation
  • Review estimates, and reports on labor expenditures and materials used.
  • Assist in preparation of sketches and procedures for construction renovations and related work.
  • Assist in the review process of man-hour and material estimates.
  • Ensure all bids are completed and submitted by the specified deadlines
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products (Word, Excel)
  • Strong understanding of construction process
  • Strong understanding of code requirements
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as required
  • 5+ years of experience in piping estimating for commercial and industrial projects, or 10 years of experience in installing plumbing and HVAC piping
  • Preferred/Not Required- Experienced Trimble AutoBid estimating software
  • Candidates must also complete a satisfactory behavioral profile assessment, drug screen and a satisfactory background check
