Description of the Position:

The Director of Operations is responsible for managing all aspects of a multi-site supply chain operation. The Director of Operations will provide overall direction and oversight in the areas of performance, P&L management, customer relations, continuous improvement, and Associate development. Will follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report noncompliance when observed. In addition, the candidate will observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcement as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the operations of warehouse, packaging, and logistics managers to achieve company

objectives and meet customer expectations.

  • Evaluate overall operations and develop short- and long-term goals to meet organizational

objectives. Oversee all warehousing, distribution, packaging and transportation operations to ensure company and customer requirements are met.

  • Focus on continuous improvement and make decisions about enhancing value, service and

effectiveness, and profitability.

  • Direct and oversee programs to ensure safety of all associates, equipment and property.

Ensure Compliance With All Company, Customer And Government/regulatory Requirements.

  • Directly manage budget and P&L for operations.
  • Develop work plans ensuring appropriate staffing levels -- managing labor costs, overtime and retention.
  • Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report noncompliance when observed.
  • Observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcement as appropriate.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Qualified candidates should have at least 5 years management experience in a high volume, fast paced 3PL warehousing and transportation environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of large warehousing operations, including packaging, is necessary: experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) distribution preferred.
  • Bachelors' Degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related operations discipline preferred.
  • A broad range of management skills is required with particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication, and planning.
  • Must be able to give and receive innovative, creative and helpful feedback for team growth, productivity and profitability.
  • We are searching for candidates with strong, demonstrated experience effectively managing hourly and salaried staff.
  • Experience with performance management systems, progressive discipline and safety reporting is required.
  • Experience with the fiscal components (budgeting, cost controls, etc.) of facility management is required.
  • Candidates must have knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in Lean / Six Sigma. Certification preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and experience are required.
