Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Construction to join our executive team in New York. The VP of Construction will be a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all construction activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This individual will be instrumental in driving growth, innovation, and operational excellence across our diverse portfolio of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Develop and implement the construction strategy in alignment with company goals. Provide leadership and guidance to project managers, site supervisors, and the construction team.
  • Project Management: Oversee all phases of construction projects from pre-construction planning through completion. Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting. Work closely with the finance team to ensure cost efficiency and profitability.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with industry standards, building codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. Build strong relationships to ensure effective communication and successful project delivery.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and budgets.
  • Talent Development: Mentor and develop a high-performing construction team. Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Sustainability & Innovation: Champion sustainable building practices and drive the adoption of new technologies to enhance construction efficiency and environmental impact.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; a Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, LEED) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing large-scale projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex, high-value construction projects in urban environments, preferably within New York City.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with project management software and technology-driven construction practices.
  • A strategic thinker with strong business acumen and the ability to drive growth and profitability.
