Home Care Caregiver (Bethel Park, South Hills Area)

Job Summary

ameriCARE Pittsburgh is seeking dynamic individuals who are not just passionate caregivers but also motivated to elevate their skills to help others increase their quality of life. This position provides services in Washington County and southern Allegheny County.

Role responsibilities:

• Assist clients with daily routines such as light exercise and mindfulness activities like reading.
• Create opportunities to connect and socialize over a good meal.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene for clients by attending to their basic needs, such as showering, bathing, dressing and eating.
• Remind clients to take prescribed medication, as needed.
• Help with mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks, shopping, etc.)
• Assist with daily household chores, like laundry and dishes, to help bring peace of mind and comfort to our clients.
• Provide our clients and their beloved pets with a helping hand.
• Be proactive in preventing harmful falls or other injuries by maintaining a clean environment, removing tripping hazards, helping our clients with mobility, and keeping the environment as safe as possible.
• Report any unusual incidents and act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergencies.
• Update care logs with mobile app or computer.
  
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Reliable and dependable -- able to commit to clients, arrive on time, and proactively communicate any needs or issues
• Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting
• Access to smart phone and ability to navigate Home Care specific apps
• Eager to improve and open to education and learning new skills.
• Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodations.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for every shift
• Consistently act in a compassionate and supportive manner
• Willingness to comply with health and safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Available to work different shifts, including nights and/or weekends
• Basic knowledge of nutrition and exercise, or willingness to learn.
• Prior experience in a service field such as education, healthcare, hospitality, or in-home care environment (minimum of 1 year)
• Hoyer Lift Experience (specific to client)
