About The Job

Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, the SVP will be responsible for leading a multi-year strategy to develop Marathon’s health plan sales channel. The SVP will have national oversight for new business sales and retention activities in health plan customer segments throughout the US. This leader will build and manage the sales pipeline; from new business prospecting, to building relationships with potential clients, to closing direct sales, to building channel partnerships. This leader must have a keen passion for improving healthcare working towards the quadruple aim, while simultaneously building a financially successful company. As a member of the Senior Leadership team, this business leader is responsible for leading the strategy, execution, and growth of Marathon Health’s sales initiatives with health plans.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • The SVP will collaborate closely with executive leadership, marketing, and product teams to develop our health plan value proposition, go-to-market strategy, and value-based pricing model. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of health plan organizations, a proven ability to drive revenue growth, and a track record of building and managing high-performance sales efforts.
  • Go-to-market strategy: Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive go-to-market strategy targeting health plans as direct customers to drive growth.
  • Health plan value proposition: Work closely with the product, marketing, and executive teams to adapt Marathon Health’s value proposition, positioning, product, and delivery to the health plan customer’s needs.
  • Go-to-market execution: Set goals and execute them over a multi-year trajectory. Develop, build, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within health plans, insurance carriers, and strategic partners to secure new business and expand existing accounts. Develop proof points that can be scaled up with deeper investment.
  • Pricing model: Collaborate with actuarial, pricing, and product teams to develop a value-based pricing model that unlocks health plan growth.
  • Channel Development: Identify, engage, and manage channel relationships with health plans, creating opportunities for collaboration and joint value propositions.
  • Team Leadership: Over time as the model is proven out, recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Establish metrics, performance dashboards, and regular reporting to provide visibility into sales pipeline and results. Use data to inform strategic decisions and adjust tactics as needed.
  • Market Insights: Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory changes, leveraging this knowledge to refine sales strategies and identify new opportunities. Help inform and drive Marathon’s marketing strategy with health plans, including events, demand generation, and awareness activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience with both direct and indirect sales within the healthcare and benefits industry or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience selling to Health Plan as well as working with the major national, regional health plans, and local consulting/brokerage firms.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of health plan organizations, a proven ability to drive revenue growth, and a track record of building and managing high-performance sales efforts. This role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to influence key stakeholders in a dynamic, competitive environment.

  • Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated experience managing and developing high-performing sales teams.

Experience with value-based care models and knowledge of primary care and population health management

Pay Range: $150,000 - $250,000/yr

The actual offer may vary dependent upon geographic location and the candidate’s years of experience and/or skill level. This position is also eligible for an individual commission program.
