JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop equipment condition monitoring models to power scalable aftermarket services solutions for customers and dealers.
  • Use machine learning, statistics-based, and physics-based analytics techniques on time-series sensor data, machine fault codes, inspections and analysis records, and other datasets to identify health anomalies, predict equipment failure modes, build equipment risk models, and estimate remaining useful life.
  • Mentor and develop the capabilities and organizational knowledge of junior data scientists.
  • Prototype, develop, iterate, test, and deploy models to production under the direction of a team lead, successfully meeting program objectives/timelines and solving problems with appropriate supervision.
  • Explain conclusions to customers who have limited knowledge of quantitative analytics methods and will collaborate effectively with diverse teams (including other data scientists, product design/simulation experts, platform/application developers, condition monitoring analysts) to develop analytics algorithms that enable condition monitoring commercial offerings of strategic importance.
  • Apply machine learning to remote sensor data to diagnose potential issues and recommend proactive repairs before failure.
  • Develop statistical models for time series analysis to identify anomalous behavior.
  • Collect and negotiate requirements for condition monitoring models.
  • Access, analyze, cleanse, preprocess data; cultivate ground truth data sets as needed.
  • Explore and down select modeling approaches.
  • Develop, back test and validate models in python, in both on-prem and AWS environments.
  • Compute model performance metrics.
  • Participate in daily standups and sprint reveals in Scrum/Agile environment.
  • Explain and defend modeling decisions and performance results.
  • Support model in production, resolve incident tickets.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, analytics, computer science, engineering or related field with 2-4 years’ experience.
  • Master's degree and/or PhD with 1-2 years’ experience.
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (or higher).

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent python skills (NumPy/pandas/matplotlib/sklearn), version control (git), SQL and database APIs (cx_oracle, pymysql, sqlalchemy) experience.
  • Cloud deployment experience (AWS, containerization) and familiarity with AWS services (S3/EC2/SageMaker).
  • Comfortable and effective working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Machine learning model development experience, familiarity with engineering/IOT systems, telematics/timeseries data analysis, and multiprocessing frameworks.
  • Excellent python coding skills.
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring, or related modeling and analysis of heavy equipment engineering systems.

  • Ability to work both independently and on a team while collaborating and compromising effectively.
  • Fast learner with excellent communication skills.
