Sr. Research Engineer - Autonomous Systems Integration

A leading automotive research institute is looking for a senior research engineer with expertise in system integration for Distributed Multi-Agent Systems. In this position, you will lead the integration of various algorithms and techniques to support distributed autonomous systems' advanced functionality, such as collaboration, teaming, mission planning, and decision making. As a technical leader in the System Engineering team, you will apply modern software and systems engineering practices and tools to the development of advanced mobility applications and systems. You will serve as a point of contact for all activities related to system integration and distributed systems development and integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop novel distributed system architectures to support the integration of functionalities for multi-agent systems. Supervise current exploration of novel distributed systems technologies.
  • Architect, design, develop, and test technologies and algorithms for various collaborative mobility scenarios.
  • Adopt, develop, and use agile development tools and processes in your everyday work.
  • Own and grow service architecture to adapt to new requirements and challenges from customers and partners.
  • Serve as a group technical lead in software systems engineering activities. Act as a point of contact for technology integration projects with partners and customers.
  • Lead design, development, and testing using both simulation environments and practical multi-agent mobility system deployments, such as real-world demonstrations.
  • Work on integration and testing of system components, including hardware components.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related areas.
  • 4+ years of experience in software engineering in one or more of the following areas: collaborative multi-agent autonomous systems, distributed multi-agent systems.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to present to a variety of audiences of different skills and backgrounds.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience in planning and optimization in robotics, autonomous systems, or related areas.
  • Experience running collaboration mobility-related algorithms in simulated and real-world environments.
  • Technical team leadership experience in software and systems engineering.
  • Strong background in computer science and distributed systems.
