UNIX System Administrator

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Sierra Vista, AZ that is seeking a UNIX System Administrator.

Responsibilities:
* Daily monitoring and maintenance of Tomcat systems.
* Installing, configuring, and maintaining web and application servers
* Monitoring log files, performance issues, and the production environment for mission critical systems
* Participate in an on-call rotation for support and server maintenance issues
* Ensuring the security posture of the environment
* Engaging in continuous learning to stay abreast of relevant new and emerging technologies and security practices
* Work independently and with others as part of a development team
* Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
* Maintain a cooperative working relationship with those contacted during the course of the work day

REQUIREMENTS:
* High School diploma/GED and 4 years of similar experience; AA/AS degree and 2 years of experience; Bachelor's degree and 0 years of experience
* IAT II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, SSCP or equivalent) required at start
* RedHat, Linux or other certification from 8570 CE list required within 180 days after start date; List can be provided by request
* Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
* Experience with installing, configuring, patching and upgrading Tomcat or similar web/application servers
* Working knowledge of SSO Authentication, PKI, logging and troubleshooting
* Working knowledge of Windows, Linux and UNIX operating systems
* Working knowledge of bash scripting
* Familiarity of DISA STIG regulations and mitigating findings
* Ability to work independently without direction or guidance, as well as with a team
* Experience with designing new system architecture, including multiple servers, redundancy, load balancing, etc.
* Experience with testing web applications for usability and functionality
* Ability to set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines
* Basic knowledge of networking, databases, server hardware and virtualization
* Experience with or aptitude to learn advanced scripting, automation, programming, web application development
* Basic knowledge of working in an agile development environment

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
