The Legal Assistant will support our attorneys by performing a variety of administrative and legal tasks. This role requires a strong understanding of legal procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. The ideal candidate will be proactive, efficient, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and handling phone calls and emails.
  • Document Preparation: Draft, review, and proofread legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, motions, and contracts. Prepare and file documents with courts and other legal entities.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to gather information, schedule meetings, and provide updates on case progress.
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research and gather information relevant to cases and transactions. Summarize findings and prepare reports for attorney review.
  • Case Management: Maintain and organize case files, ensure deadlines are met, and assist with the preparation of case materials for court appearances and meetings.
  • Billing and Timekeeping: Track attorney time and prepare billing statements. Assist with invoicing and follow-up on payment issues.
  • Compliance and Confidentiality: Ensure all legal procedures and compliance requirements are met. Handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a law firm or legal environment.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures.

Certifications: Paralegal certification (CP or CLA) is a plus but not required.
