The Mechanical Design Engineer/Mechanical Designer will have strong analytical skills, a committed attention to detail, and the ability to work within a structured product development process. This hybrid role will require the ideal candidate to be onsite in our Fairport, NY office full time for the first 2 months of employment to get acclimated to our people, process and products. A Hybrid work week can be arranged after that with expectations of being in the office 2-3 times per week.

Responsibilities

The Mechanical Design Engineer/Mechanical Designer role reports to the engineering group that is primarily responsible for concepting, designing, and industrializing new intrusion products. The position will collaborate with electrical hardware engineers, RF engineers, and product management as part of a gated product development process. Responsibilities include the following:

Product concepting and designing in CAD: plastic enclosures for motion detectors, keypads, and other intrusion products

sheet metal enclosures

simulation analysis- interference analysis, tolerance stack-up, finite element analysis

plastic optical (Fresnel) lenses and light pipes for use in intrusion motion detector products

Create prototypes of product designs or engineering fixtures utilizing onsite machine shop equipment or external job shops

Perform pre-compliance and mechanical testing on product sample builds, for example: impact analysis, drop testing, torque testing

Support tooling activities including: drawing updates, sample inspection, product testing, and release documentation
