Job Summary

Staff Development/Quality Assurance Nurse is responsible for overall education, in-services, orientation, and competency assessments of the nursing department. Responsible for ensuring that all shifts are staffed appropriately. Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining records of all education activities. The Staff Development/Quality Assurance Nurse shall demonstrate knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with staff of all groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. The Staff Development / Quality Assurance Nurse is responsible for the monitoring and overseeing of quality care and referring problems to appropriate department manager/director. The Staff Development/Quality Assurance Nurse will provide infection control monitoring and provide required documentation. The Staff Development/ Quality Assurance Nurse will audit medical records on an on-going basis for compliance and regulatory issues. The Staff Development/Quality Assurance Nurse updates fall and infection reports on a daily basis. Provides and presents fall and infection reports for weekly QA meeting with the medical director and interdisciplinary team. Attends care plan meetings. The Staff Development/Quality Assurance Nurse The Staff Development/Quality Assurance Nurse shall perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing and/or Administrator.

Performance Expectations

  • Demonstrates ability to oversee nursing as related to Quality Assurance and infection control.
  • Demonstrates self-motivated approach to ensure new and pre-existing Quality Assurance guidelines are being followed.
  • Demonstrates understanding of Nursing Policy and Procedures and ensure that they are being followed in all aspects of resident care.
  • Demonstrates ability to regularly provide in serving to staff regarding resident problems or concerns and that infection control policy and procedures are demonstrated by all staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to discipline accordingly in the absence of DON and/or Administrator to ensure resident care is provided appropriately.

Qualifications

Education/Skills

A Registered Nurse license by the state of MS from an accredited non-online institution required.

Work Experience

Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience preferred. Minimum of one year of nursing experience in long-term care preferred.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

  • Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS

Additional Certification/Licensure - obtained based on the required time frame below

  • Basic Life Support

Within 30 Days of Employment Required
