Job Description:

On behalf of our client, a leading general contractor based in Ronkonkoma, NY, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimation, with at least 7 years of experience, and a proven track record in managing complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for a wide range of commercial preconstruction projects which include: retail centers, mixed-use developments, corporate offices, educational facilities, healthcare, industrial facilities, and hospitality projects.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Monitor project costs, track changes, and adjust estimates as necessary.
  • Provide value engineering options and cost-saving recommendations.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of estimating databases and tools.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings and project planning sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial preconstruction, focusing on accurate cost estimating, bidding, and budgeting.
  • Experience with retail centers, mixed-use developments, corporate offices, educational facilities, healthcare, industrial facilities, and hospitality projects.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) and strong blueprint reading and quantity takeoff abilities.
  • Expertise in developing detailed estimates, cost benchmarking, and managing subcontractor bids.
  • Experience in presenting estimates to clients and working closely with project teams during preconstruction.
  • Familiarity with the New York and Tri-State Area construction market, including local regulations and suppliers.
  • Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks in preconstruction.
