Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Oracle/Ingres Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of Oracle and Ingres databases. You will work closely with developers, system administrators, and other IT professionals to ensure that database systems are optimized and running smoothly, supporting business operations and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Management: Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle and Ingres database systems. Manage database environments to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.

Performance Tuning: Monitor and tune database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks. Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and database configuration for improved efficiency.

Backup and Recovery: Implement robust backup and disaster recovery plans. Perform regular backups, testing, and data recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.

Security Management: Apply security patches and manage user access controls, ensuring database systems are compliant with internal and external security regulations.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and quick recovery.

Database Design and Architecture: Work with development teams to design efficient database schemas and optimize data models for business applications.

Automation: Develop scripts and tools to automate routine tasks, database monitoring, and reporting.

Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation on database architecture, configurations, and procedures for future reference.

Collaboration: Collaborate with developers, IT support teams, and business stakeholders to provide database expertise for new projects and ongoing maintenance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Proven experience as an Oracle DBA and/or Ingres DBA, with hands-on experience in managing both databases.

Strong knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, and backup/recovery strategies.

Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and other database programming languages.

Experience with database monitoring and management tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, Ingres Database Monitor).

Solid understanding of operating systems (Unix/Linux and Windows) and their interaction with database systems.

Familiarity with database security and compliance standards.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS for Oracle).

Familiarity with database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.

Certification in Oracle (OCP, OCM) or Ingres database administration is a plus.
