Job Purpose

The Professional Kitchen Manager is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in the overall operations of the store with the focus on delivering exceptional food quality and customer service. They are dependable, hardworking and experienced professional who will be responsible for meeting performance and profit goals of the food service area while maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards. The individual selected for this position will have a strong kitchen operations background while meeting and demonstrating a "Passion for Food". The position will have responsibility with Operations for overall execution and profitability of Foodservice P&L lines (labor, supplies, margin, shrink, etc.) and is expected to deliver a Clean, Friendly, and In-stock experience to all customers.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Supervise the day-to-day task assignments and performance for food service team members.
  • Ensure the proper execution of assigned foodservice programs and procedures.
  • Be willing to work "shoulder to shoulder" with fellow Team Members.
  • Check in vendors according to corporate procedures.
  • Ensure a pleasant shopping experience for all customers. Respond to customer complaints or inquiries.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of kitchen efficiencies including menu building history.
  • Demonstrated track record of excellent coaching/teaching skills and team building.
  • Mastery of food cost controls.
  • Excellent knife and cooking skills.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate training programs through Coen Academy.
  • Ensure the planning and execution of established safety, security, quality, and store operations policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Analyze results and trends to prepare action plans to leverage the store's strengths and address areas of opportunity. Ensure the execution of all action plans.
  • Plan and prepare work schedules and coordinate daily assignments and activities of team members to meet the needs of the business.
  • Ensure future growth by executing a defined strategy to deliver the long-range plan.
  • Demonstrated ability to properly order, maintain and control inventory to increase profit margins.
  • Cross trained in Store Operations functions and responsibilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience And Skill Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Associate degree in culinary arts or related discipline preferred.
  • 5 years of Kitchen Manager leadership experience required, preferably in a restaurant environment.
  • Ability to learn and utilize the store's computer applications required.
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks for team members.
  • Experience, skills, and abilities consistent with Core Values and Leadership Competencies
  • Availability to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.

Licensure/Certification

Starting at 50K - compensation based on experience.

  • Serv Safe/Other State or County Certifications within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Valid State Driver's License required.
