Work in a fast-paced environment to meet the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Work involves developing and maintaining long-term contact with clients, client families, and employment agencies/work sites for employment, medical, behavioral, social, educational, and related service needs. May train others. Work under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Education, Training, & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 1-year experience working with and/or training persons with intellectual disabilities.
  • One (1) year or more of full-time work experience in fields of education, vocational rehabilitation, workforce development programs, human services programs, or organizations serving individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities required.
  • Or any combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to sufficiently perform job duties.
  • A varied and successful work history.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Essential Tasks

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of community organization and administration and general principles of public and human relations.
  • Strong computer skills including a familiarity with database programs and proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work proficiently in a potentially hectic environment.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Strong presentation skills (teacher and presenter).
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism.
  • Ability to build strong community relationships.
  • Ability to always maintain confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas driver's license required and reliable transportation.
  • Must not have more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years.
  • Must be insurable on the Center’s insurance.
  • Some local travel will be required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
  • Time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks is necessary.
  • Must be able to complete all MHMR Concho Valley training.
  • CPR/First Aid
  • PMAB

SHIFT HOURS: M-F 8am-5pm (possible variations depending on job sites).
