Purpose

The Security Officer is responsible for promoting a safe environment for guests and associates of the hotel, assisting in maintaining order, enforcing internal rules and regulations, and investigating and reporting incidents involving the loss of property, theft, personal injury, motor vehicle accident, etc. that may result in claims against the hotel. Provide escorts for associates and guests. Patrols property to ensure security of guests, buildings, and premises. Performs protective, preventative, safety and security related enforcement functions while touring the hotel to ensure the safety and well-being of hotel guests, associates, and vendors.

Essential Functions

  • Completes security checklist. Walks through entire property inside building and around the outside to assure security, including locking outside doors.
  • Monitor activity in the hotel's parking lot
  • Assists guests as requested, including with luggage, room keys, directions, and safety walks to guestroom.
  • Enforces a quiet environment for sleeping guests.
  • Addresses guest complaints by investigations and giving warnings up to and including eviction of guests.
  • Closes pool and straightens and picks up pool area after closing.
  • Checks kitchen, banquet and meeting rooms to make sure doors and cabinets are locked. Handles security-related situations in a courteous and restrained manner in coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances and threats.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. At least one (1) year experience.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (KSA’s):

Command of the English language both written and verbal. Well organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Always maintain a professional appearance and manner. Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player. Ability to work beyond standard hours when necessary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the guests’ needs. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions from supervisor. Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent with at least one (1) year hospitality experience.
