Description

Evaluate and respond to individual credits and lines of business for credit quality, adherence to underwriting standards and policies, and adherence to applicable safety and soundness laws. Evaluate the bank’s lending processes, procedures, departments, and policies as established by bank Management and Board of Directors and offer recommendations. Assist in determining credit impairments, measurement of impairments, and calculate the bank’s Allocation for Loan and Lease Loss Reserve and report findings to Management and Board of Directors.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Utilize sales training skills to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of loan process and recommends changes to process and policy to the Credit Decisioning Manager.
  • Assigns risk grade, provides information, and discusses credits with the Credit Decisioning Manager and lenders.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly department reports for Management and Board of Director committees.
  • Assist third-party provider PCBB with calculation of the Loan and Lease Loss Reserve (ALLL) and assist in transition to the Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) accounting method.
  • Assists Credit Decisioning Manager in preparing, maintaining, and recording watch list information.
  • Complete special projects and special reports either as part of the Credit function or at the request of Management or Board of Directors.
  • Stays abreast of changes to the industry and local economies, to understand, regulatory changes and other areas that create a change in risks to the Bank or require a change in policy or procedure.
  • Assist in working with regulatory agencies and third-party loan review providers on the review of commercial and agricultural loans.
  • Analyze loan data on new, renewal and existing loans, including data provided by customers, credit bureaus, other financial institutions and financial institution files.
  • Organize and facilitate various meetings as needed for management and / or third-party providers.
  • Complete quarterly disclosure charts to assist Accounting department with the 10-Q and 10-K filings with the Securities & Exchange Commission.
  • Comply and satisfactorily pass tests for bank policy and regulatory compliance that apply to position.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in commercial loan documents and underwriting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proven experience reading and interpreting financial statements and an understanding of key financial ratios.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal customers, or regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information to management, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Loan Review Certification, or a willingness to work towards it.

Other Knowledge And/Or Skills

Must be able to communicate well and maintain strong working relationships across business lines. Is articulate, friendly, and has good telephone etiquette. Must be professional in appearance, detail orientation, and ability to work without supervision.
