The Miami-Dade County Information Technology Department (ITD) is seeking a full-time IT Senior Telecommunications Technician to be assigned to the Fixed Systems Workgroup of the Radio Communication Services Division. This is an advanced skilled technical position involving the installation, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of complex radio system infrastructure equipment in a multisite telecommunications operation. Responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex audio and microwave transmission systems; digital and analog fixed radio communication infrastructure equipment; portable and mobile radio systems; OC3 and IP microwave transport systems and equipment; and dispatch consoles. Additional duties include troubleshooting hardware and software problems, faulty circuitry, transmission and distribution lines, installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment at the component level, and performing preventive maintenance on this equipment. This position requires applying fundamental and advanced principles, techniques, practices, and methods of electronic technology. Employees exercise some independent judgment to ensure timely responses to critical telecommunications infrastructure activities.
