Position Overview

We are seeking a Loan Specialist to assist with the Banking Mortgage team on a temp-to-hire basis. This Loan Specialist position will be a hybrid position, working remotely 2 days and onsite on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The office schedule is 8 AM to 5 PM or 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. We are seeking individuals with at least 3 – 5 years of experience with high net worth loans over a million dollars. The Loan Specialist’s primary responsibility is for the careful review of applicants and their loans as submitted by loan originators to determine the acceptability of the applicant’s credit risk and the borrower’s ability to repay the loan.

Responsibilities Of The Loan Specialist

  • Responsible for the complete review of the credit, income, asset, and collateral to be financed for acceptable type, risk, and value, to ensure overall qualification. Processing will request updated documentation to ensure the loan still meets the requirements of the loan program. Obtain required loan documentation and process less complex loan applications.
  • Handle loan applications from the point of setup to funding, aiming for loan approvals.
  • Monitor closed loan papers to make sure all secondary marketing guidelines are being followed.
  • Keep a steady flow of loans coming in while focusing on efficiency, quality, accuracy, and customer service.
  • Examine financial data, such as earnings, assets, property values, and credit history, following industry standards. Place orders for third-party services and credit checks.
  • Track receipt of and review legal documents.
  • Set up and monitor loan and financial ticklers to ensure accuracy and timeliness of receipt of documents.
  • Verify loan files and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness. Follow up on missing documentation.
  • Prepare and compile documents for review and approval.
  • Prepare or review for accuracy, disclosures required by relevant consumer regulations.
  • Perform basic loan calculations.
  • Interact with Financial Advisors, Mortgage Consultants, Banking consultants, and the client.

Qualifications For The Loan Specialist

  • 3 – 5 years of retail mortgage loan processing experience.
  • Experience managing a pipeline of at least 35 loans at a time.
  • Understanding of TRID Regulatory Guidelines.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Clear and professional written and oral communication skills (will be ‘client-facing’ over the phone and will frequently interact with internal and external customers).
  • Ability to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
