Duties And ResponsibilitiesSpecific Job Knowledge, Skills, Duties, And Abilities

  • Supervise and guide Bordeaux associates.
  • Assist with serving, hosting, and bartending duties when necessary.
  • Respond efficiently and accurately to guest complaints. Offering the appropriate recovery.
  • Engage with guests and fellow associates in a positive and friendly manner.
  • Coordinate daily Front of the House and Back of the House restaurant operations.
  • Manage Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for seamless events.
  • Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations, including all liquor laws.
  • Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease; notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of guests; check identification whenever the age of a guest requesting an alcoholic beverage service is questionable.
  • Knowledge of P.O.S. systems and 3rd party applications and the ability to use them effectively and efficiently.
  • Clean and maintain workspace including tables, walls, windows, floors, and in-room dining carts as necessary.

Requirements

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and be able to demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job:

  • Strong Problem-solving and reasoning skills are necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge of Bordeaux and its services and facilities are necessary.
  • Associate must be detailed oriented with outstanding organization and managerial skills.
  • Associate must possess basic computational abilities, be able to use Windows and Outlook e-mail.
  • Have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Upon hire, complete all IHG and Hotel training. Complete ongoing training as scheduled.
  • Additional duties as necessary and assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 º F) and kitchens (+110 º F), possibly for one hour or more.
  • Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular and continuing basis
  • Push/pull cars or equipment weighing up to 250 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length and in limited space areas. Must be able to maneuver between tables.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.

Qualifications And Requirements

A high school or equivalent education is preferred. Minimum of six months of prior food service experience is required. Leadership experience preferred. Must be at the minimum age to serve alcohol in line with any local legislative requirements. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required. Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities. Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including, separation.
