The Director | Construction Training at ASG is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the activities of their specific department/division. Also, responsible for providing strategic development and leadership oversight of either a geographical area or discipline-based department, ensuring that the organization continues to grow as an industry leader.

What we offer:

Pay Scale: $115,000 - $140,000/ Per Year

What you’ll do: (Including, but not limited to):

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Lead and manage a team of skills trainers to ensure the delivery of high-quality training programs in both aerial and underground telecommunications construction.
  • Program Development: Design, develop, and continuously improve comprehensive training programs and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) that cover all aspects of telecom construction, including safety protocols, equipment operation, and technical skills.
  • Class Coordination: Plan and coordinate training schedules, classes, and certification programs, ensuring alignment with operational needs and compliance with industry standards.
  • Facility Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and management of the training facility in Greenville, SC, ensuring it remains a safe and effective learning environment with up-to-date equipment and resources.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the training department’s expense budget, including tracking expenditures, forecasting costs, and optimizing resource allocation to ensure cost-effective training delivery.
  • Performance Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics; implement improvements based on data-driven insights.
  • Audits and Monitoring: Direct and manage continuous audits, virtual and on-site, to ensure that all trained processes have been applied and standards are being followed on job sites.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all training programs comply with OSHA regulations, industry standards, and company safety policies, maintaining a strong emphasis on a culture of safety.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the VP of Operations, project managers, and other stakeholders to identify training needs, address skill gaps, and align training initiatives with strategic business objectives.
  • On-Site and Hybrid Work: This is a preferable on-site position with the ability to work hybrid. A minimum of 60% on-site per month is required.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes; integrate new knowledge and best practices into the training programs.

What you’ll need:

General

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in training and development, preferably within the telecommunications or construction industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Telecommunications, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certifications in training and development is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, excellent organizational and planning abilities, and effective communication skills. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of telecom construction processes, including aerial and underground techniques, equipment operation, and safety standards.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using training management software, learning management systems (LMS), and familiar with virtual training tools and platforms. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Budgeting Skills: Demonstrated experience in managing departmental budgets and optimizing costs.
  • Travel Requirement: Willingness to travel at least 25% of the time

Job Type: Full-Time – Salary (Exempt)

Your Working Environment:

  • The role requires a combination of deskwork and fieldwork, with the Director spending approximately 50% of the time in the field at the training facility or project sites.
  • The fieldwork may require exposure to outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
  • Frequent use of a computer and other office equipment is required when working remotely or in the training facility.

Your Physical Requirements:

  • While in the field, the Director must be able to walk, stand, and climb for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds is required for equipment handling or demonstrations.
