The Director of Manufacturing Operations is responsible for all human and capital resources deployed to support the scheduling, fabrication and final assembly of the company’s products.

The Director is also a change agent and key member of the leadership team, charged with cultivating a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement, implementing best practices, and developing talent for succession planning purposes.

Responsibilities include developing the annual operating plan and budget, manpower planning, staffing, and execution of the master production schedule to meet customer demand.

Focus of Position:

  • Plans, leads, directs, and controls the activities within manufacturing plant(s) to achieve the short and medium-term operating objectives set by the business plan.
  • Develops and drives Continuous Improvement objectives in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity.
  • Determines staffing requirements and executes to production schedules based on determined priorities.
  • Establishes manufacturing and quality control standards to meet company objectives and KPI’s.
  • Develops Long Range capacity plans and capital expenditure budgets.
  • Committed to developing and coaching employees within a high performing team structure.

Required Competencies:

  • High volume manufacturing experience, with Continuous Improvement / LEAN background and understanding of best practices.
  • Operational and financial understanding of the fundamentals in manufacturing, production planning, procurement, logistics and engineering.
  • Ability to lead strategic projects, while maintaining day-to-day activities.
  • Superior planning and analytical capabilities & business acumen.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, assign work and follow up to ensure timely deadlines are met.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build positive partnerships and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Leadership and ability to train, coach and mentor individuals and teams to high performance results.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Manufacturing and/or Industrial Engineering experience
  • Experience within a Union factory
  • Six Sigma black belt or green belt certification
  • Automation implementation experience
  • Background experience with Total Productive Maintenance
