Role: AWS Admin/Solution architect - AppStream
Location: Baltimore, MD - Hybrid

Duration: Long term

Client: State of MD

Location: position (currently it is remote, but the client may request hybrid option next year)

  • AWS Fundamentals:
    • AWS Management Console: Proficiency in navigating and using the AWS Management Console.
    • IAM (Identity and Access Management): Understanding of creating and managing IAM roles, policies, and permissions.
    • VPC (Virtual Private Cloud): Knowledge of networking concepts within AWS, including subnets, security groups, and route tables.
    • EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud): Familiarity with EC2 instances and their configurations, as AppStream 2.0 relies on underlying EC2 infrastructure.
  • AppStream 2.0 Specific:
    • AppStream 2.0 Architecture: Understanding of how AppStream 2.0 works, including fleets, stacks, and image builders.
    • Fleet and Stack Configuration: Ability to create, configure, and manage AppStream fleets and stacks.
    • Image Management: Skills in creating and maintaining AppStream images, including installing and configuring applications within the image.
    • User Access Management: Managing user access, including integration with Active Directory or other authentication providers.
    • Scaling and Optimization: Knowledge of how to scale fleets, optimize performance, and manage costs.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Data Security: Implementing security best practices for data in transit and at rest.
    • Compliance Requirements: Understanding of compliance standards relevant to your organization and how to implement them within AppStream 2.0.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
    • CloudWatch: Using AWS CloudWatch for monitoring and logging and setting up alarms for performance and operational issues.
    • Diagnostics: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AppStream 2.0 instances, user sessions, and application performance.
  • Automation and Scripting:
    • AWS CLI and SDKs: Proficiency in using the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI) and software development kits (SDKs) for automation and scripting tasks.
    • Infrastructure as Code: Knowledge of tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform for managing infrastructure.
  • Application Management:
    • Application Installation: Skills in installing and configuring applications within AppStream images.
    • User Experience: Understanding of how to configure applications to provide a seamless experience for end-users.
