This hybrid role provides dual support to both the Consumer Lending, Loan Servicing and the Collections Departments. This team member must demonstrate the ability to effectively validate, process, and service credit union accounts where members are deceased, various Collections Department functions including mail, check processing, file maintenance account review and the servicing of Real Estate accounts. This team member must be able to assist members and team members with varying needs related to their core job duty.

  • Collect on delinquent HELOC and first mortgage accounts and aid with the management of delinquent accounts as needed.
  • Review Credit bureau disputes serviced via E-Oscar platform and other CBR dispute request initiated by the member.
  • Manage credit union deceased account(s) in accordance with credit union policy and desktop procedure.
  • Perform review of Collections Department specific reports to includeFile Maintenance Report, Monthly Charge off report,
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Manage department mail and post incoming checks/payments. Log copies of payments and review monthly for determining posting timeline.


Experience

A typical expected background for obtaining the requisite knowledge, abilities and experience include

  • A minimum of five (5) years of relative collections experience to include experience servicing automotive loans, overdrawn checking and/or savings accounts, credit cards, unsecured lines of credit and loans secured by real estate assets.
  • A minimum of two (2) years legal, bankruptcy and vendor management experience required.
  • A basic understanding of the mortgage servicing process including an understanding of Home Equity Lines of Credit.
  • An understanding of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the credit dispute process.
  • An understanding of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) along with an understanding of servicing guidelines under California's Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel and an ability to create and manage spreadsheets.


Education

  • A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school, or completion of specialized training or related job experience.
