Duties and Responsibilities


In this role, you will manage and work on a team responsible for:



  • Maintaining an existing, production AWS cloud architecture supporting three applications

  • Moving this existing AWS cloud architecture into a new common services architecture

  • Building an additional AWS cloud architecture in a designated, high-security boundary

  • Implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and AWS development services


You will need to coordinate closely with your team and application team to ensure existing and new systems are properly supported/deployed. You and your team will be responsible for hardening and patching servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server. Deployments will use infrastructure-as-code (IaC) written in either Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.



  • Delivers in-depth comparative analysis of alternative proposals to meet complex technical solution requirements.

  • Designs and develops cloud solutions, processes and enhancements for company's complex, business critical internet site communications and/or network-based cloud provider environments.

  • Leads the design of cloud solutions, including elements of: networking, persistency, storage, compute services, database services, enterprise integration, security, identity / access services, and management and automation services.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert in cloud solutions and services. Provides advanced technical and engineering support for internal groups and customers.

  • Develops and refines cloud infrastructure solution designs, to develop client and program solutions.

  • Interfaces with the client on all issues related to the design, implementation, testing and cutover of the solution.

  • Works with client stakeholders to evaluate the solution requirements and supports the management and traceability of requirements during the engagement.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned and conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies.

  • Interacts with external technology vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions.

  • Provides technical assessment of requirements and definition from conception through implementation.

  • Resolves complex issues independently; coordinates and communicates changes and issues with the client and team members and determines root cause.

  • Provides recommendations on cloud infrastructure upgrades and supports project integration as required.

  • Leads the creation and maintenance of backup and/or storage related standards, policies, processes, system documentation and Disaster Recovery Plans as it relates to cloud environments.

  • Provides leadership for the development of operational and strategic direction for the implementation and maintenance processes for cloud solutions.

  • Performs research and development around technical requirements for product definition.

  • Serves as a technical lead and mentors junior team members on processes and procedures.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or related field;

  • At least 7 years of experience deploying in and maintaining cloud environments.

  • At least 3 years of experience with AWS

  • At least 1 year of experience managing a team

  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification

  • Willing to work on-site at Ft Belvoir 50% of the time.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Active Secret clearance

  • Experience working in the Department of Defense or Intelligence Community

  • Possession of a DOD 8140 baseline certification, i.e., CompTIA Security+

  • Understanding of DoD PPSM Processes and Network Boundaries

Pay Dependent upon experience starting at $170k
