Network Architecture

• Network Design & Architecture:
  Design and develop scalable, secure, and reliable network architecture for state agencies and departments. Ensure alignment with the state's IT infrastructure strategy, goals, and compliance with security and governance policies.
• Technology Evaluation:
  Evaluate emerging network technologies and services to enhance infrastructure performance and ensure future scalability. Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and assessments of vendor solutions.
• Implementation & Maintenance:
  Oversee the implementation of network solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems. Perform regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure high availability, performance, and security of network systems.
• Security & Compliance:
  Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure network designs meet or exceed security standards, including compliance with state, federal, and industry-specific regulations. Implement best practices for data protection, access control, and threat prevention.
• Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity:
  Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the network infrastructure to ensure minimal downtime in the event of a failure.
• Collaboration & Support:
  Work closely with cross-functional teams including IT leadership, infrastructure teams, security professionals, and vendors to deliver high-quality network services. Provide technical guidance and support to network engineers and IT staff across agencies.
• Documentation & Reporting:
  Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, architecture designs, and policies. Provide regular reports on network performance, capacity planning, and risk assessments.

• Education:
  Bachelor s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. Master s degree preferred.
• Experience:
• 8+ years of experience in designing and managing complex network infrastructure.
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership or senior technical role.
• Experience working in public sector IT or government agencies is highly desirable.
• Certifications:
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification required.
• Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
• Technical Skills:
• Expertise in network technologies (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN, Wireless).
• Knowledge of cloud networking (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
• Experience with network security (firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption protocols).
• Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers (Cisco, Juniper, etc.).
• Familiarity with network automation tools and technologies (Python, Ansible, Terraform).
• Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong leadership and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with a range of stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot complex network issues.
