About Park Board Of Trustees And Visit Galveston

In 1963, the citizens of Galveston voted to create a specialized unit of government called the Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston. The organization is responsible for overseeing Galveston's tourism efforts, Galveston Island Beach Patrol (GIPB) and Coastal Zone Management (CZM). The Park Board is funded primarily through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and beach user fees for the six parks that they manage. Tourism pays for tourism as no sales or property tax is collected by the Park Board. The nine-member board is comprised of volunteer residents with diverse business experience. Each is required to serve at least two years and must also serve on one of the Park Board's advisory committees.

HOW YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE AS AN EDITORIAL CONTENT STRATEGIST

As a highly skilled and experienced content developer who enjoys collaboration and teamwork, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing strategies that effectively promote our destination, align with our brand objectives, and drive engagement and visitation. Examples include social media, website, email marketing, blog writing, and other marketing, advertising, and communication initiatives. You will oversee all messaging across digital and traditional channels, ensuring consistency and brand integrity. You enjoy getting to flex your creativity and take pride in encouraging more people to visit our beautiful island!

What We Need From An Editorial Content Strategist

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, writing, media studies, digital media, or related field
  • Five years of content management experience at an agency and/or in-house marketing team is ideal.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and Content and Project Management Systems.
  • Possess excellent writing skills with strong attention to detail, as well as adept at storytelling
  • Experience with crisis and rapid response communications
  • Valid class C driver's license

WORK SCHEDULE FOR AN EDITORIAL CONTENT STRATEGIST

This marketing position is a full-time office-based position in Galveston. This position typically works Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5pm. However, the successful candidate must have the ability to work outside of normal business hours to include special events, evenings, weekends, and holidays based upon season needs and office demands. Some travel may be required for this role.
