A government agency located in Montgomery, AL is seeking a Senior Database Developer with advanced skills in SQL Server and Azure Database to design, develop, and support Database Management Systems (DBMS). This role involves complex SQL code, maintaining and rewriting legacy processes, and ensuring database design meets system requirements. The developer will handle data requirements, schema design, and develop data architecture across multiple platforms.
Work Mode: 100% onsite in Montgomery, Alabama (No remote work)
Location: Montgomery, AL
Contract Duration: 1 year contract, with possibility of extension
Rate Range: $40.00 - $46.00/hr
Responsibilities:

  • Design, model, and support DBMS, including complex SQL code and legacy process updates.
  • Analyze data requirements, create and optimize database schemas, and develop data warehousing designs.
  • Develop data architecture that meets business needs while ensuring security and flexibility.
  • Gather and normalize data from business processes, design data models, and support application development.
  • Implement security standards (NIST, Azure compliance) and follow SDLC and Agile (SCRUM) methodologies.
  • Collaborate with project management, application designers, and data administrators.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Data Manipulation Language (DML), Data Query Language (DQL), and Data Control Language (DCL).
  • Expertise in data management concepts: normalization, aggregation, concurrency, data modeling, JSON.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud services, BLOB Storage, DevOps, SQL Data Tools, MS Power Apps, SQL Reporting Services, MS Power BI.
  • Strong in Data Modeling: Logical, Physical, Relational Modeling, ER Diagrams, Entities, Attributes, Cardinality, Functions, Views, Triggers.
  • Security-focused development, adhering to NIST standards and Azure compliance.
  • Experience with SDLC and Agile (SCRUM) processes.
  • Superior communication, documentation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Cypress JS, NVDA, JAWS, Adobe Read Aloud, WAVE, ScreenRec.
  • Proficiency with MS Team Foundation Server (TFS), MS SQL Server, MS Power Apps, Amazon AWS, Amazon S3.

Required Experience:

  • 6-10 years of IT experience in DBA, DBMS design, and support.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into data models and application development.
  • Experience in security standards, SDLC, Agile (SCRUM), and project collaboration.

Preferred Experience:

  • Extensive experience in gathering business requirements and translating them into data models.
  • Experience with security standards, SDLC, Agile (SCRUM), and project-related process controls.

Education Required:

  • Master s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems with 6-10 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
