The Curriculum Lead - Health & Social Care will have lead responsibility for our - Health & Social Care curriculum content and pathways, managing and growing our - Health & Social Care opportunities in line with the organisation`s strategic objectives.

Key areas of responsibility:Our key deliverables and performance measures for this role are:

  • Overall responsibility for successful course delivery and learner outcomes within the scope of their role, well matched to need and suitably stretching and challenging for learners, regardless of their starting points and ensure our provision goes through robust standardisation and quality assurance processes, with performance aligned to the subject specifications and WEA strategy.
  • Lead the development and deployment of an innovative Health & Social Care curriculum offer, working closely with colleagues in quality, accreditation and digital development to ensure a high-quality learning experience for our learners
  • Work collaboratively with the External Relations, Delivery and Quality teams, to ensure that curriculum content is impactful, well matched to WEA strategy and learner need while remaining suitably stretching and challenging regardless of learner starting points.
  • Develop teaching, learning and assessment Communities of Practice and contribute to internal working groups to ensure best practice is identified and shared and that all English and ESOL practitioners are of high quality.
  • Support WEA`s ambition to provide personalised, technology supported teaching, learning and assessment experiences for our learners working with colleagues across the WEA to develop an enhanced digital environment.
  • Lead on relationships with awarding bodies in conjunction with the accreditation team and undertake internal quality review activities as required.
  • Performance and quality metrics are regularly (weekly) measured and monitored with appropriate action and intervention measures in place and focused support for individuals identified through the quality assurance process as requiring direct improvement.
  • Successful production of departmental Course Reviews and SAR.
  • All WEA Health & Social Care practitioners` teaching and learning sessions are judged as good or outstanding
  • Assessment and IQA is of high quality which secures good EQA visits and exam results
  • Action plans lead to rapid and sustained improvements which demonstrates impact on the Health & Social Care provision
  • The Health & Social Care curriculum is high quality, efficient and inspiring with seamless transitions from entry to progression
