Working Hours: After-school programs, 10-15 hours per week between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM

Location: Multiple locations around the DC Beltway, primarily in Montgomery and Prince George's County, MD

The Game Room Club is committed to creating engaging and educational spaces for communities through the power of play and learning. Our flagship initiative, Learn & Play, blends STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education with video game and project-based learning to provide children with fun, interactive, and impactful educational experiences. We strive to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration among students, helping them develop both academically and socially.

Responsibilities

As a Learn & Play Facilitator, you will play a vital role in delivering fun and educational STEAM-based lessons and activities to children aged 5-18. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Organizing and facilitating engaging STEAM lessons and interactive labs.
  • Implementing engaging lesson plans and activities that encourage curiosity and hands-on learning.
  • Managing groups of students during sessions, ensuring a positive and safe environment.
  • Supporting students in learning while also maintaining order and enthusiasm throughout the program.
  • Implement positive behavior management techniques to redirect participants focus.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Create a structured and positive environment with continuous opportunities for learning and growth.
  • Takes direction and feedback with ease and implements tasks with a positive attitude.
  • Complete daily administrative duties (i.e. scheduling, attendance, planning for next day, and emailing).

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in education, child care, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of STEAM subjects.
  • Previous experience working with children aged 5-18 in educational settings.
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with setting up gaming consoles and other technology.
  • Quick learner able to understand new concepts and teach them to others.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with children, youth, and adults.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Creative, hard-working, energetic, organized, professional, flexible, and team oriented.
  • Proven success creating and leading a safe and structured environment for children.
  • Available to attend training.

Experience Level

Current teachers or individuals with prior experience in education, facilitation, or STEAM-related fields are preferred. However, candidates who are currently pursuing a degree in education and show strong potential are also encouraged to apply.

  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) is a plus.
