Exempt/SalariedPurposeThe Controller oversees and manages the operational financial activities of Commonwealth Senior Living (CSL) and the communities that it manages or for which it provides bookkeeping accounting services.

Qualifications

  • Overall development and management of the accounting staff in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, general accounting and financial systems
  • Direct management of the General Accountants and Treasury Accountant
  • Liaise with CSL Communities on accounting policy, procedure, and training
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to support the financial infrastructure
  • Review and approve short-term cash flow projections
  • Prepare long-term cash projections
  • Review and approve intercompany transactions
  • Ensure cash controls and compliance
  • Review and approve funding requests sent to owners for funding
  • Review and approve ACH and Wire requests originated in Treasury
  • Serve as final point of escalation for Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable issues if the Assistant Controller is unable to resolves the issues
  • Oversee monthly financial close and related management, internal, and external reporting to ensure timely completions
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, manage preparation and support of all external audits
  • Manage annual budget process and assist communities and departments in the preparation of their budgets
  • Develop and maintain finance and accounting policies and procedures in compliance with professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain accounting systems conventions, access, & user control
  • Prepare required reports under debt covenant compliance reporting timely
  • Develop and maintain report formats and reporting systems
  • Detail review of the monthly workpapers and financial statements prepared by General Accountants.

Communicate corrections/adjustments as necessary.

  • Detail review of the CSL Management Company monthly workpapers and financial statements
  • Issue monthly financial statements and other financial reporting in accordance with timelines established
  • Ensure timely compliance of all tax matters and provide financial information as requested
  • Manage and approve the year end Form 1099 preparation and reporting
  • Manage and review the process for recording costs as regional support costs at the community level
  • Focus on perpetual improvement of accounting and financial reporting processes
  • Develop and manage the Assistant Controller and General Accountants
  • Special projects as requested
