Responsible for managing and optimizing the organization's desktop environment, with a primary focus on Microsoft technologies including System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Intune, and Office 365. This role involves collaboration with project teams to ensure the efficient deployment of applications and updates, along with a strong emphasis on customer service.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Manage and maintain the organization's desktop infrastructure using SCCM and Intune.
  • Support Office 365 applications. This is to include administration of MS Teams, One Drive and SharePoint.
  • Develop and execute strategies for Windows desktop management.
  • Provide expert-level support for complex desktop issues and project initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to customer SLAs and drive automation efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT security specialists and server operations.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff members, fostering their professional development.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and create documentation to share expertise.
  • Provide technical leadership and act as a subject matter expert for the desktop team.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute monthly patching cycles for all managed desktop systems.
  • Perform thorough testing of patches and updates before deployment to ensure system stability and compatibility.
  • Monitor and report on patching compliance and system health post-deployment.
  • Collaborate with project teams to update and install new applications, ensuring compatibility and smooth integration into the existing desktop environment.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by addressing and responding to client inquiries regarding services, installations, and troubleshooting.
  • Handle customer complaints and provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within specified time limits, ensuring follow-up for resolution.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in desktop system administration and management.
  • Intermediate level of administration of OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams.
  • Strong proficiency in Windows desktop management using Intune and SCCM.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and endpoint management solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Proficiency in patch management processes and best practices.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies for software updates and patches.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices.
  • Understanding of IT service management principles.
  • Strong Customer Service and coaching skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a ever changing environment.
  • Experience with change management processes and documentation.

The ideal candidate should be able to work at a senior level, providing guidance to junior team members and contributing to strategic decisions regarding desktop management. They should also stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the organization's desktop environment, effectively transfer knowledge to the team, and ensure the security and stability of the desktop infrastructure through rigorous patching and testing processes. Additionally, the candidate will play a key role in collaborating with project teams to facilitate the successful deployment of new applications while delivering exceptional customer service to city users.
