As a Cloud Sustainability Analyst, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance the sustainability of our cloud and on-premise infrastructure. Your role will involve assessing and optimizing cloud resources, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable practices, and driving initiatives that contribute to Mastercard overall sustainability goals.
Role:
Develop and implement strategies to minimize the environmental impact of our cloud and on-premise infrastructure, including energy consumption and carbon footprint.
Monitor and analyze cloud resource usage to identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction while maintaining performance and reliability.
Work with engineering, operations, and wider ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) teams to integrate sustainability best practices into architecture and operations.
Create and maintain reports and dashboards to track sustainability metrics and progress towards goals.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies related to sustainability.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in sustainability and recommend improvements.
Educate and advocate for sustainable practices within the organization, providing guidance and support to team members.
All About You:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in sustainability or cloud technologies are a plus.
Proven experience in both cloud / on-premise engineering or operations, with a focus on sustainability and resource optimization.
Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), cloud cost management tools, and sustainability assessment tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
Experience in managing projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring, with a focus on achieving sustainability targets.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
Experience with carbon accounting and sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14001).
Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in cloud computing and sustainability
Proficiency with Apptio and Native (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management) cloud cost management tools
