Job Description:
The Autonomous Vehicles Lab at the Research & Engineering Education Facility with the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is looking for a research engineer. This researcher will join our team to develop hardware proof-of-concept demonstrations of autonomy algorithms on aerial and ground robots. In particular, the engineer will work with open-source robotics systems to build the next generation of Guidance, Navigation, and Control architectures that interest academia, industry, and the DoD.

The research engineer will work with an interdisciplinary team developing code to test and evaluate research-level algorithms on simulations and hardware platforms, present demonstrations to UF researchers, sponsor researchers (Air Force, Army, etc.), or support hardware implementations for visiting researchers. This is a dynamic environment, and the team needs to adapt and execute various efforts.

This is a full-time, salaried position where you'll have the opportunity to work on multiple exciting projects simultaneously, both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Expected Salary:
$65,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience

Minimum Requirements:
  • BS in engineering or computer science or related field
  • Solid programming experience either in C++ or Python for robotics

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with Unreal Engine for environment creation and modification is desired.
2. Analytical solid reasoning, organizational, communication, and prioritization skills.
3. Experience with software development, including testing and troubleshooting.
4. Experience with ROS and Linux systems.
5. Prior experience working with ground and aerial robots.
6. Experience implementing Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms is a plus.
