What you'll do
The Database Engineering team is responsible for managing databases and responsible for the design, build, and operational aspects of the database. As the Director Database Engineering is responsible for leading the priavte and public cloud database team and will be responsible for the strategy, design, implementation, and operations of the cloud database solutions. You and your team will engage with the infrastructure and application development teams and support the adoption of cloud database solutions and provide a clear path to migrate from the private cloud to the public cloud.
This position is a people manager role reporting to the Vice President, Engineering.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:
California: $195,500.00 - $315,775.00 base salary
Illinois and Colorado: $186,200.00 - $263,000.00 base salary
Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $186,200.00 - $276,125.00 base salary
Washington DC: $195,500.00 - $276,125.00 base salary
This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits .

- Develop and implement the database management strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases to ensure efficiency, security, and scalability
- Stay updated on emerging database technologies and best practices to drive innovation
- Lead and mentor a team of DBAs and database engineers, providing guidance on day-to-day tasks and long-term development
- Foster a collaborative work environment, encouraging cross-functional collaboration with other teams (e.g., application development, IT operations)

What you bring
Basic
- 12+ years of related experience of database engineering, delivery, and support
- 12+ years working with Microsoft SQL server in high transactional environments
- Experience leading DBA(SQL preferred) teams and engineers
- Experience with database(SQL Preferred) running operations
- Ability to technically lead the cloud database technology team along with providing transparency and insight that can be consumed by business teams.
- Proven understanding of azure cloud database technologies
Lead engineering and support teams that will support client's modernization efforts - Past involvement in audit and regulatory reviews for all items related to the cloud database space
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience
- Strong people leadership to empower, encourage, and engage
- Passionate about building a strong team to support the organization's goal for modernization
- Solid understanding of automation and orchestration tools such as Terraform, Groovy, Jenkins, and GitLab
- Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle management the Agile methodology
