Job Description

Position Summary
At Bresco Broadband, Field Technicians are essential in delivering high-quality communication services directly to our customers. This role involves conducting thorough site surveys, installing and configuring the latest in telecommunications technology, and providing comprehensive customer education on new services. Field Technicians also engage in low-voltage construction, maintain organized and stocked service vans, adhere strictly to safety protocols, and employ best practices in cable management and job site cleanliness. Reporting to the Field Service Technicians Manager, this position requires a blend of technical skill, customer service aptitude, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Conducting site surveys to determine optimal equipment placement for the strongest signal reception.
- Installing state-of-the-art technology, including mounts and antennas, to ensure seamless wireless connectivity.
- Educating customers on their new service, including basic troubleshooting and enjoyment tips.
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues with connectivity and equipment functionality on-site.
- Performing routine maintenance checks and updates to ensure service reliability.
- Managing inventory of installation/repair tools, supplies, and equipment.
- Providing detailed documentation of installation, service, and repair activities.
- Executing low voltage construction tasks with precision.
- Weekly cleaning and organization of the van.
- Weekly reporting to the supervisor with a stock sheet of consumables in the van.
- Precisely clocking in and out for jobs and lunch breaks.
- Adhering to all safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
- Maintaining cleanliness on job sites, ensuring no mess is left behind.
- Efficiently maximizing work efforts to minimize return visits.
- Practicing effective cable management for neat installations.
- Climbing towers for specific installations (limited to certified technicians only).
- Following the established Best Practices guide for field technicians to maintain high
service standards.
- Offering exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries, and ensuring customer satisfaction with Bresco Broadband's services.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Minimum of 2 years' experience preferred as a technician providing related services for homes and/or businesses. Entry-level positions are also available.
- Strong customer service skills: friendly, approachable, motivated, with a strong work ethic and a high degree of integrity.
- High energy, resourcefulness, and strong multitasking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Basic computer skills required; knowledge of basic electronics and/or audio/video is helpful.
- Ability to stand for extended periods on a ladder, lift at least 70 lbs at times, crawl into confined spaces, and work in various climates.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation to support critical service needs.
- Overtime may be required.
- Willingness to travel within a one-hour radius of Columbus.
- Valid driver's license required with a driving record meeting company safety standards and eligibility for company insurance coverage.
- High school diploma or GED preferred; college or technical/vocational school education is a plus.
- Experience in alarm, cable, or satellite installation is advantageous.
- Passion for technology is a positive attribute.
- Background in construction, roofing, drywall, or maintenance is beneficial.
- Capable of training and developing others in the team.
- Flexible in adapting to new challenges within the Bresco framework.
Physical Demands
Occasional outside work requiring exertion (lift, push, pull) of up to 100 pounds; rarely up to 50 pounds infrequently, and up to 25 pounds occasionally. Job requires constant indoor work, sitting, and operating a computer. Job requires occasional standing, walking, squatting/kneeling, bending; infrequent traveling, climbing, crawling, and reaching outward or above the shoulder. Must be able to use computer and printer. Must be able to present information to others and work under stress. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel away from home required.
